The inspiration for Wild Heart came from a most unexpected moment for founders Lauri and Kevin...
We accompanied our mum to her appointment that day. We thought her cancer chapter was over, however there were signs that it was rearing its ugly head again, making a return visit to the specialist a priority. After a day full of travel, waiting rooms, stories, laughter and feeling connected, it was time for us to say goodbye and return to our own families.
Mum walked us to her door, but before we left she paused for a moment with each of us. One at a time she cupped her hands around our faces and expressed her gratitude for being with her on such a difficult day. In a warm, loving tone, she said, ”I couldn’t be more proud of you, and it’s a privilege to be your mum.” As we walked away she added a cheerful, “I love you!” and then blew us a kiss like she always did. That would be the last time we saw her. Just a few hours later she was gone…her heart just couldn’t take the idea of another round.
In less than sixty seconds, our mum’s final act as a parent would become one of the most valuable teaching moments we’ve been given. She demonstrated how important it is for us to say what we need to say to the important people in our lives. Wild Heart Studio honours what we learned from our mum that day.
